More than two thousand years ago, the area that stretches south from Fethiye to Antalaya was occupied by the Lycians, a fiercely independent people prone to killing their wives and children, rather than submit them to enemy attack. Today, the region’s western fringes are home to some of Lycia’s best-preserved and most significant archaeological sites, along with splendid Turquoise Coast beaches and a verdant and mountainous backdrop.
